3 Tips for Choosing Crystal Jewellery

Choosing a piece of crystal jewellery can be quite a challenge, I've definitely been there! You might be wondering "which crystal is right for me?" or more specifically "which crystal do I need right now?". When there are so many available to choose from, and so many different ways of wearing them, the number of options can feel overwhelming.

So I'm here to cut through the overwhelm and help you hone in on how to make your decision. Here are my top tips on how to choose a piece of crystal jewellery.

1. What does your intuition tell you?

Is there a particular piece that feel drawn to? This can be something that immediately caught your eye, one which made you stop in your tracks, or one which you keep coming back to to compare others you like.

Because here's the things - your intuition is never wrong. It will pull you to the crystals that you will most benefit from.

Sceptics might roll their eyes at me saying this, but it is completely true. If I had a penny for each time a customer has picked up something that they've have felt drawn to, asked me to explain what it could help them with, and then felt their jaw drop as I've highlighted the exact thing that they are struggling with... well, I would have a lot of pennies.

This happens to me all the time too. In 2020, when I was in the midst of a lot of changes, including moving from my old job and stepping into this more aligned version of myself, I was having dreams of Labradorite constantly. I didn't understand why, because at this point I didn't have crystal properties permanently stored in my brain, and I was still a little sceptical on whether the universe really did have my back, but as I watched a live sale on Instagram and saw the big Labradorite free form with bright orange flash (just as I had been dreaming of), and it was within my budget, I stopped in my tracks. I then found out that Labradorite is the stone of transformation, there to provide stability through times of change. It now sits proudly on my desk, and serves as a reminder of how far I've come.

Trusting your intuition is like a muscle that you have to stretch. The more you use it, the more easily it will come to you in the future, and you'll quickly see that actually a lot of what holds us back is overthinking and fear. The more you lean into what feels right for you, the easier it becomes to trust yourself. This is something I've had a lot of experience with the past few years, but I'll save that story for another time. My point is, don't overthink it. If there is something that stands out to you or that you keep coming back to, it is for a reason.

2. Do you need support with something?

Perhaps there is something specific you would like some support with, such as confidence, self love, abundance, motivation... you name it, there's a crystal for it.

This is something I experience a lot. Customers often approach me and ask which crystals help with anxiety, or which crystals are for stress relief - these are the two most common requests - and this is a great route to take if there is something specific you'd like support with. There are always multiple options to choose from, and you can then look at things such as which colours you prefer.

I say this a whole lot, but it doesn't hurt to say again - I LOVE a quiz! And obviously I love crystals... so if you would like some support with a particular issue (it really could be anything at all), pop me a message and quiz me on which crystals will work for you.

Alternatively, pop up to the caraejdesigns.com search box, type in a keyword and see what comes up. For example, if you type in "confidence", you'll see some Tigers Eye, or if you type in "abundance", you'll see Green Aventurine, Citrine and Pyrite.

3. What makes you feel most like yourself?

This might be the most important point of all, because there is no point in investing in something that you won't wear.

Consider which types of jewellery you feel most comfortable wearing. Do you feel naked without earrings? Do you like to wear necklaces? Are you more likely to stack up some bracelets? It is different for everyone, but you should focus on what feels the most comfortable for you and lean into that.

This way you are more likely to put it on in the morning, the crystal's properties are working for you wherever you go, and you get the most out of your purchase.
